Since you took you last breath there has been a void left in my heart. Nanny, I miss you everyday. I miss calling you on the phone and telling you my secrets. You always knew everything before everyone else did. You were so loving, caring and patient. I am very thankful to have called you my Nanny.
The Lord places people in your life for a reason. I remember very vividly two separate instances when I came to visit you and you where in the hospital. Both time my mother-in- law brought me to see you. Although we spent a total of eight hours on the road only to be with you for a couple of hours. It was all worth it in the end. I just needed to see you for myself and I wanted to be in your presence.
The last time you had a scare (when you had a heart attack). I remember it like it was yesterday (approx. November 2009/10) but not the year exactly. It was a joyous occasion because my dog gave birth to a litter of puppies. That joy quickly overshadowed by a grimaced look of worry. I tried to hold my tears back but I just could not cope with knowing that you were in the hospital.

So after the successful completion of delivering 12 puppies (by the way, only half of the litter survived) my mother-in-law and myself headed to Northern Virginia while my husband stayed behind to watch Grace (our dog). While traveling once we hit Loudoun County (Purcellville) we got stopped by the police (for speeding). It was nothing but the grace of God that got us out of that speeding ticket. I received a call from my eldest sister asking "where are you?" and ask the cop was standing there I replied, "I am on my way." And the cop was understand and let us go with a warning.
We finally arrived at the hospital where several family members were in the waiting area. I was much better once I got to see you. Nanny, you have always been a trooper. You assured me that you were okay and I was relieved and overjoyed. You always knew that I had a soft spot when it came to you. You knew that I would give you my last dime if I need to and most certainly when you were in the hospital I would drop any and everything just to be near you.
It was time for us to say our goodbyes and head back up the road. As we left the hospital headed for home. A calmness came over me because I knew that you were fine. I was very appreciate of my mother-in-law making that long dreadful trip with me because she did not have to do it. As I stated previously, the Lord places people in your path for good reason. I am glad that you were able to meet her and to see what a wonderful woman she is and has been to me.
Until we meet again!!
